A theoretical and methodological proposal for the analysis of social integration [Una propuesta teórica y metodológica para el análisis de la integración social].

This article sets down the theoretical framework and the empirical evidence for the development of a model on the social integration of immigrants (SII) and its empirical validation by way of a meso perspective which takes into account the material and social surroundings in which SII takes place. This perspective incorporates as central variables the actual contexts of immigration and the density of the social networks. This approach is substantiated with the study of the SII in migration locations or social networks which are a result of migratory flows of diverse sign -- returnees, international, national -- in order to unravel the processes which surround the SII in those places in comparison with other contexts in which such a high concentration and interconnection of individuals with different migratory experiences are not present.

Minor foreigners in Spain [La población extranjera menor de edad en España].

The aim of the article is to use data hitherto unknown to palliate in part the present lack of knowledge about the origin, geographic distribution, sex and age of foreigners under 16 with regularized residence in Spain. The authors admit that to describe statistically a social phenomenon is neither to understand it nor to know it, but they insist on the importance of knowing the age structure of immigrant groups.

Modes of socio-professional insertion: Young adults of the Italian and Spanish immigrants in Switzerland [Modos de inserción socioprofesional: Jóvenes adultos de origen español e italiano en Suiza].

This article is about the young descendants of the Italian and Spanish immigrants, the ways of socioprofessional integration in the Swiss society and also about the way they have of living their pluricultural situation. The authors try especially to analyse the connection between young adults, the different kinds of social and professional integration of these young adults, their sociocultural practices (social relations, languages they use, etc.) and their expressions of identity. The relations between these processes are studied by comparing the young who are naturalized Swiss with those who are still foreigners. The introduction of a control group made up of young Swiss people by birth of similar social spheres allows to interpret the results in a wider context.

Gender relations and inequalities between sexes as mechanisms of selection in the migratory processes [Relaciones y desigualdades de género como mecanismo de selección en los procesos migratorios].

This article shows some of the key theoretical problems that the study of feminine migrations has faced through a representative bibliographic selection. The article starts with a classic approach to the migratory phenomenon stressing the natural and positive turn towards an analysis of gender. However, it finally suggests that the sociology of gender has much to gain from a deep analysis of the migratory phenomenon in order to get answers which allow a greater generalization that apply to the wide variety of historic and cultural situations.

The employment stability as factor of integration of the immigrant workers come from the outside of the European Union [La estabilidad en el empleo como factor de integración del trabajador extranjero no comunitario].

The present study has tried to prove that the principle of employment stability is a legal condition of the employment contract; because of this it is an aspect of which must be respected in all work relations with foreign workers. In application of the aforementioned principle, after having examined the different kinds of work permits and their possible link with an employment contract, the erroneous connection made between the temporary nature of work permits and the temporary nature of the signed contracts by foreign workers is condemned.
